Justin Pratt

Founder · Principal Engineer

Justin leads SHAKO programs hands-on, from early research and engineering analysis through rapid prototyping, testing, and design for manufacture. His work spans mechanical design, electronics, firmware, and supply chain, and he has delivered engineering for clients including SpaceX and Raytheon. He is currently Principal Investigator on a U.S. Navy SBIR that completed Phase I and is now in Phase II.

Before founding SHAKO in 2018, Justin developed ophthalmic surgical equipment on Alcon's core R&D mechanical design team, performed structural, dynamic, and fluid analysis and test design at National Technical Systems (now Element), and built automated optical metrology and inspection systems for corrective lens R&D at Bausch + Lomb. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology, with a concentration in Computer Science.
